Dr. Ann Harrington earned her BA in Early Childhood Education and her M.Ed. in Reading Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her Ph.D. in Reading Education from the University of Georgia. She held teaching certification in Elementary Education, Learning Disabilities, Reading Education, and English as a Second Language instruction. She holds professional membership in the American Library Association, Children's Literature Association, International Literacy Association, National Council of Teachers of English, and TESOL International Association. She has served as an educator for over 35 years.
Ann has engaged in spiritual coursework with Alignment, Bethlehem Centre, Celtic Way, Center for Action and Contemplation, Center for Courage and Renewal, Center for Process Studies/Cobb Institute, Closer Than Breath, Contemplative Outreach, Insight Meditation Society, Interfaith America, Interfaith Center of Arkansas, Monasteries of the Heart, and Spirituality and Practice.
She holds a Certificate in Spiritual Literacy and Transformative Practices and is currently pursuing Spiritual Literacy Facilitator certification from Spirituality and Practice. Her spiritual path is aligned with interfaith and inter-spiritual wisdom traditions, experiential spirituality, and contemplative perspectives. She is an aspiring and unaffiliated Quaker interested in process and open/relational theology.
