About Ann

Dr. Ann Harrington earned her BA in Early Childhood Education and her M.Ed. in Reading Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her Ph.D. in Reading Education from the University of Georgia. She held teaching certification in Elementary Education, Learning Disabilities, Reading Education, and English as a Second Language instruction. She earned international certification in TEFL/TESOL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). She holds professional membership with the American Library Association, Children's Literature Association, International Literacy Association, National Council of Teachers of English, and TESOL International Association. She has served as an educator for over 35 years. 

Ann has engaged in spiritual studies with Alignment, Bethlehem Centre, Celtic Way, Center for Action and Contemplation, Center for Courage and Renewal, Center for Process Studies/Cobb Institute, Charter for Compassion, Closer Than Breath, Contemplative Outreach, Fred Rogers Institute, Grateful Living, Insight Meditation Society, Interfaith America, Interfaith Center of Arkansas, Monasteries of the Heart, Process and Faith, Spirituality and Practice, and Woodbroke.


She is certified as a Spiritual Literacy Facilitator  with Spirituality and Practice. She also holds a Certificate in Interfaith Leadership from Interfaith America/Religion and Public Life.  She is a member of Charter for Compassion, Discovering Quakers, and the Educators' Neighborhood program with the Fred Rogers Institute. Her spiritual path is aligned with interfaith and inter-spiritual understandings, perennial wisdom traditions, and contemplative engagement. She is an attending Quaker interested in process and open/relational theology.
