Learn about the wisdom and insights that can be gleaned from children's literature! Seemingly "simple" pieces of children's literature can offer a great deal of spiritual insight and understanding. Indeed, children's literature is not just for children! There is so much wisdom that all readers can glean from reading these wonderful books. The initial
RE-HAT Children's Literature Book Club Overview session provides an introduction to spiritual literacy and children's literature discussions connected to 3 (of the first 9) practices from the Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy. We will be reading three picture books in this session (you do not need to do any reading in advance). This session will be offered on Sunday, December 8, from 4-5:30 PM EST. Learn about spiritual literacy through contemplative readings, discussion, and practices! The initial RE-HAT Contemplative Overview session will be held on Sunday, December 15, from
7-8:30 PM EST. In this session, we will gather to learn about spiritual literacy and then focus on 3 (of the first 9) practices from the Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy. We will read and discuss inspirational and thought-provoking poetry and reflections, share and learn about spiritual literacy practices, and engage in a brief meditation.

Do you want to find ways to teach compassion, kindness, and empathy to the children in your care through engaging not only their minds, but also their hands and hearts? Are you interested in learning ways to promote the spiritual literacy development of your children/students by engaging them in discussions of wonderful picture books? Would you like me to implement a picture-book read aloud with you (and/or with you and your children/students) focused on a spiritual literacy practice? Sessions are open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, EST.
RE-HAT Picture Book List
The RE-HAT Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy Picture Book List (Volume 1) includes a recommended list of picture books to teach or discuss each of the first 9 spiritual literacy alphabet letters/practices (for more information, see the Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy) to children in Grades 1-6;
and an overview of each picture book.

NOTE: Children's literature picture books are not included! These books are readily available at your local bookstore, in your local public library, or through online book sellers.
RE-HAT Curriculum Guides
How do you teach the Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy to children? RE-HAT offers an Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy Curriculum Guide to use with groups of children/students. This resource details how to teach the Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy to children in Grades 1-6 (~ages 6-12) through reading and exploring engaging, diverse, and high-quality children's picture books; and explains ways to promote the spiritual literacy and/or social and emotional development of children/students in a variety of settings. The curriculum guides can be tailored to align with
any (or no) faith or spiritual tradition.
Currently, RE-HAT offers a curriculum guide for the first 9 spiritual literacy alphabet practices (Volume 1). I will be adding additional curriculum guides as they are developed. I am offering this resource at no charge if you attend a RE-HAT Online Gathering or a RE-HAT 1:1 session!
